Things that I love

You know I love art. Did you know that I also love books and everything related to ballet?
I've just made these two Lo's for AMM's website new challenge: to make a LO about love, but not the love you feel for your husband, child or any other person. It has to be about something else you love, like your cat, dog, favorite bag or anything else.

Shadow Dancing stamps

Yesterday I used my Angela Cartwright's shadow dancing stamps in a project for the first time and that's why I would love to share this artistic project of hers with you...
Angela Cartwright has been a photographer and artist for more than four decades. She uses uniques techniques for interpreting her hand-painted photographic art with acrylic and oil paints, inks, written word, and ephemera .
In the last issue of Sommerset Studio magazine (volume 13, issue 1) she explained that the shadow dancings art project has commenced when her daughter left their home after graduating from collage and she found great comfort in expressing the vicissitudes of life through art.
She wrote that:
"Before beginning any new art project, I always dream about it. That was exactly what happened with my latest series, "The shadow Dance". For many years I have photographed my shadow at every opportunity and in every possible situation: in my garden, as I travel, at the beach, at a party... 'shadow shooting' is a passion for me. Intimate self-portraits (or shadow-self photographs) have begun to immerse themselves into my artwork and to encompass deep, personal, introspective feelings. It's said that "art imitates life"and I wholeheartedly agree"...
Inspired by these photos she has created a new transparent, unmounted stamps line and to illustrate her work the magazine has shown some amazing canvas she has painted with her shadows and the metaphor of birds.
These "shadow-self photos" and "birds leaving their nests" inspired me so much!!!

"Le Fabuleux Destin D'Amélie Poulain" plot summary

"One person can change your life forever... "
Remember that today is the last day to upload your takes on challenge # 10 at the "Inspired by Amélie" blog.
And just because Amélie's story has changed my life forever, I would like to introduce Amélie's plot summary for those who have never watched this amazing movie..
Amélie is a story about a girl named Amélie whose childhood was suppressed by her Father's mistaken concerns of a heart defect. With these concerns Amélie gets hardly any real life contact with other people. This leads Amélie to resort to her own fantastical world and dreams of love and beauty. She later on becomes a young woman and moves to the central part of Paris as a waitress. After finding a lost treasure belonging to the former occupant of her apartment, she decides to return it to him. After seeing his reaction and his new found perspective - she decides to devote her life to the people around her. Such as, her father who is obsessed with his garden-gnome, a failed writer, a hypochondriac, a man who stalks his ex girlfriends, the "ghost", a suppressed young soul, the love of her life and a man whose bones are as brittle as glass. But after consuming herself with these escapades - she finds out that she is disregarding her own life and damaging her quest for love. Amélie then discovers she must become more aggressive and take a hold of her life and capture the beauty of love she has always dreamed of. Amélie is also a shy waitress in a Montmartre café, "Le Deux Moulins". After returning a long-lost childhood treasure to a former occupant of her apartment, and seeing the effect it has on him, she decides to set out on a mission to make others happy and in the meantime pursues a quirky guy who collects discarded photo booth pictures. Amélie is looking for love, and perhaps for the meaning of life in general. Little by little, Amélie realizes that the way to happiness (and yet more subtle humor) requires her to take her own initiative and reach out to others. Amélie tries to enrich the lives of those around her by weaving her special brand of mischievous magic. She befriends a neighbor who's a shut-in, plays pranks on another neighbor, steals a garden gnome and returns objects she collects to their rightful owners. She romantically daydreams in the café she works at and marvels at life's ironies.
The more I watch this movie, the more I get amazed! I'm really an "inspired by Amélie" girl!
So, don't forget to upload your works today!

Disappointment

I'm still working with my winter photos. In this LO, I've told about my daughter's dream to see the snow. We went to France last January to let her live it, but it was so cold that she got a little disappointed... I used some" Webster's Page", "Collage Press" and "Fancy Pants" papers, everything in pale rose, pink and brown colors.
